Terence Visagie
Terence Visagie is a South African artist whose work is inspired by the rieldance and the stories of his indigenous heritage.Through drawing and painting, he captures its movement, energy and cultural significance in expressive, dynamic compositions.
His work focuses on capturing the movement, rhythm and energy of this dance. He often works from life, making drawings while observing dancers in motion, which he later develops into larger paintings in the studio.
His process begins with loose charcoal sketches, followed by expressive layers of paint. He balances structure with spontaneity, allowing each work to evolve until it reflects the feeling and energy of the dance.
Visagie has exhibited widely across South Africa, including at the Cape Gallery, AVA Gallery, Iziko Museums, and Youngblood Gallery.
